Laurie is a native of San Antonio. She graduated as a Diploma RN from the Baptist School of Nursing in 1984. She obtained her BSN in 1986 and MSN as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner in 1996. Both degrees were from the University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio. She earned an additional MSN as a Certified Nurse Midwife in 2013 from Philadelphia University.

She has worked in military and civilian settings, clinics, hospitals and home health care. She has a passion for teaching She loves educating and taking care of women across the life and age continuum. She provides evidence based, gentle, empathetic care; always with a listening ear.

On a personal note: She married (1984) her loving husband Rex, a career soldier and Physician Assistant. They met in church have always served thier local congregations. They serve as medical missionaries, camp counselors and group leaders. They love to travel, snow ski, golf and play backgammon.

Laurie will tell you her main ‘job’ and joy in life has been raising and spending time with her eight amazing children and now seven grandchildren.
